RokDoc Ji-Fi, Ikon Science’s revolutionary subsurface software system, wins prestigious US E&P Industry Award

April 7th 2017 – Ikon Science today announces that their revolutionary subsurface software system RokDoc Ji-Fi has been selected as a winner of the US based 2017 Harts E&P Special Meritorious Awards for Engineering Innovation.

This is the third prestigious award for RokDoc Ji-Fi, having already won technology awards from the UK Institute of Physics and Energy Institute late last year.

The Harts E&P’s Special Meritorious Awards for Engineering Innovation was established in 1970, and is the industry’s most well-known and widely respected engineering awards program.  Every year, the world’s best new tools and techniques for finding, developing and producing hydrocarbons are recognised, with entries being judged on their game-changing significance, both technically and economically.

Ikon Science’s Dr Simon Payne and President Matt Bell will receive this award on behalf of Ikon Science on 1st May at the OTC Houston.

RokDoc Ji-Fi is a software system that generates high fidelity 3D quantitative geological and fluid images from subsurface data including seismic data volumes, using rock physics and sophisticated mathematical analysis to robustly handle seismic resolution and noise, producing unique decision support for exploration and production, drilling and other subsurface investments.  With unprecedented commercial adoption from Supermajor Oil companies and global Independents, RokDoc Ji-Fi has become a standard market leading product for the quantitative use of seismic data.

CEO of Ikon Science, Mark Bashforth commented ‘’It is a tremendous honour for Ikon Science to accept this award.  I would like to extend special thanks to the Ikon team, particularly our Head of R&D, Michael Kemper and the Product Manager, Kester Waters.  Further acknowledgement goes to our partners at Tullow Oil plc. and at the globally renowned research organisation CSIRO, particularly Dr James Gunning.’’

“We at CSIRO were very pleased to furnish technology for Ji-Fi and work with such an enterprising and enthusiastic group of people at Ikon Science. It’s a really neat blend of geophysics, rock models, and fancy optimisation theory.  We’d like to thank Ikon Science for their great support and collaboration in this project” commented Dr James Gunning, Research Scientist at CSIRO.

Matt Bell, President of Ikon Science Americas highlighted that the Harts E&P Special Meritorious Awards for Engineering and Innovation is Ikon’s first US based award for RokDoc Ji-Fi.  ‘’Over the past year, there has been an exponential uptake of RokDoc Ji-Fi by USA operators, and the results are speaking for themselves. We hope to be able to publish some of these success stories in upcoming months. ‘’
