In this presentation we discuss the interrelation of elastic (inversion) and mechanical (drilling) properties as well as the importance of using seismic data to support predicted mechanical properties. Theory of well bore behavior is reviewed and applied to a number of case studies in key US and Canadian unconventional basins. The integrated workflow developed and utilized by the Ikon Science services teams and implemented in the RokDoc software is presented and discussed. Overall, we highlight how geophysicists play an important role generating value for drilling and engineering operations.
