RokDoc 2024.4 a Revolution in 4D Inversion, AVO Modeling, and Visualization

HOUSTON, TEXAS (23 September, 2024) – Ikon Science, a global leader in subsurface knowledge, is excited to announce the latest release of RokDoc, featuring groundbreaking enhancements in Ji-Fi, AVO modeling, and visual configuration. These advancements are designed to significantly improve accuracy, efficiency, and user experience for geoscientists and engineers working in the energy sector.

The new release introduces several powerful updates to Ji-Fi, Ikon Science’s joint impedance and facies inversion technology. Key enhancements include the introduction of the Advanced Ji-Fi license which includes probabilistic investigation of 3D scenarios and now, Timelapse Ji-Fi which allows for joint impedance and facies inversion over 4D seismic data. This is a truly joint 4D inversion that provides a comprehensive view of fluid movements in a consistent facies’ framework over time. This capability is crucial for monitoring reservoir performance and optimizing production strategies with collaborating engineering teams. Significant speed enhancements and cloud computer enablement ensure scalable data processing (e.g. time-savings of nearly 200x in recent usage!)

The AVO (Amplitude Versus Offset) modeling tool has been significantly upgraded to provide more detailed and accurate analysis. The Blocky AVO Modelling tool now includes a Wedge Modelling tool for instant tuning and thickness accuracy analysis. This addition allows users to examine the uncertainties of the minimum resolvable seismic layer thickness, enhancing the precision and expectations of subsurface interpretations. Furthermore, a new AVO Scaling Tool has been introduced to assist with seismic and wavelet scaling, ensuring that synthetic and seismic data are accurately aligned. This tool can produce scalar maps extrapolated across a survey to provide a comprehensive view of lateral variations in datasets. With these new options, users can more quickly and effectively provide value to collaborators, from clearer support in data conditioning and interpretation, to the improved execution of characterization workflows.

RokDoc’s visual configuration and well data handling capabilities have been enhanced to offer an increasingly more intuitive and customizable user experience. Section and map viewers now have options to display an inset color and scale bar, and axis text formatting and background colors are now editable to maximize screen real estate usage and reduce the need for image post-editing.  We’ve improved and simplified well data projection in 3D sessions and developed new infrastructure for handling multi-geometry 2D data, enhancing the user experience and opening the door to data-dense 2D characterization workflows. Additionally, for Pressure Prediction, the upgraded pore pressure calculators now export vertical effective stress and mudweight equivalents directly, streamlining curve conversions and saving users significant time and effort.

“RokDoc 2024.4 represents a significant step forward in subsurface exploration,” said Alan Mur, RokDoc Product Manager at Ikon Science. “Our Advanced Ji-Fi and AVO modeling tools provide more precise subsurface interpretations, while our enhanced visual configuration options and a more intuitive interface make RokDoc easier to use, all increasing user satisfaction and leading to better collaboration and decision-making.”
